Tonight we will be entering the Year of the Dragon :-) In China, everybody is celebrating the new Chinese Year 2012, the year of the Dragon. In UK too. Fireworks, parades with dragon dancing, parties are holding everywhere. People are celebrating with friends and families the entry on this year.
As a tradition, today i clean the house, sweep the floors and washed
daily thing. House cleaning is believed to drive away ill-fortune and
bring good luck in the coming year. Windows and doors are decorated with
red paper-cuts and couplets. Also the famous red lanterns, which are display along streets and holding on trees.

Regarding trees, there is the Kumquat Tree, which in Chinese the kumquat is called Gam Gat Sue. The word "Gam" rhymes
with the Chinese word for gold, and the word "Gat" sounds like the
Chinese word for good luck. Therefore, having a kumquat tree at home
symbolizes "abundance of wealth" and good luck. Kumquat Tree is a very
popular plant for new year decoration, especially in South China's, Hong
Kong, Guangdong and Guangxi provinces. This tree is like an orange tree but smaller and the fruits are a bit sphere shape. Look at the picture.
The gifts that you will exchange, does not have to be fancy, and food and drink can be OK. Just remember
to put the gifts in a box or a bag (red and gold are the fortunate colors).

Esta noche en China, todo el mundo está celebrando el Año Nuevo chino 2012, el año del Dragón. También en UK. Fuegos artificiales, desfiles con dragones bailando, fiestas en todas partes. La gente lo celebra con familiares y amigos para una buena entrada en el año 2012.

Como es tradición, hoy limpié la casa, barrí los suelos, pasé el aspirador, etc.. Se cree que al limpiar las casas alejas todo lo desafortunado y ayudas a que la buena suerte entre con el nuevo año. Las ventanas y las puertas son decoradas con adornos rojos. También las famosas linternas rojas, se disponen a lo largos de las calles y colgando de los árboles.

Respecto a los árboles, está el llamado Kumquat Tree, el cual en chino se hace llamar Gam Gat Sue. la palabra "Gam" rima con la palabra china para oro, y la palabra "Gat" suena como la palabra china para la buena suerte. Así que si hay un Kumquat en la casa, simboliza "abundancia de riqueza". Este arbolito es como un naranjo pero algo más pequeño y sus frutos tienen forma ovalada.
Los regalos que se intercambian en estas fechas no tienen por qué ser lujosos, incluso la comida y bebidas son bienvenidas. Sólo hay que tener en cuenta que el papel, caja dónde pongas los regalos han de tener los colores rojo y dorado porque son colores de la buena suerte.
Así que allí dónde estés, Feliz año Nuevo Chino 2012, el año del Dragón! (que dicen va a ser un muy buen año :-) Que así sea!!
