Jacket_potatoes

Jacket potatoes are also known as "spuds" and are baked full potatoes and filled with several ingredients such as cheese, mushrooms, onion, baked beans, mince meat, coleslaw, etc...

Since I landed in the UK I had several spuds already, I have them time to time, because are hyper-caloric! however, deliciouuuuussss!

At the beginning of being here I didn´t know what "Jacket potato" means as if I translate directly into Spanish would be like "una patata con chaqueta" which is quite funny! The jacket is the skin, so the potato is baked in the oven with the skin for long times You can also improve the cooking time placing the potato before in the microware and then roasted for 20 minutes in the oven. The cooking time in the microware depends on the size of the potato.

My favorite fillings are butter, cheese and black pepper! accompanied with a nice salad ;) or coleslaw...yamiiiii

And I have a couple of places which I love to go, especially to eat this beauties:

One is in Stevenage, in the Oval café and other is in Peterborough, in the Spud caravan.

Whenever you travel to UK I recommend you to try a spud,  it is something that belongs to the British Culture.

Las "Jacket potatoes" se conocen también como "spuds" Y son patatas enteras asadas y rellenas con distintos ingredientes, entre los más comunes están el queso, champiñones, cebolla, judías con tomate, carne picada, ensalada de col, etc...

Ya las he comido varias veces desde que llegué a UK, aunque de vez en cuando, poque son hiper-calóricas! sin embargo, delicioooooosas! Al principio no sabía muy bien cómo traducir "jacket potatoes" ya que si lo traduzco literalmente sería como "una patata con chaqueta" lo cual es bastante divertido! La chaqueta es la piel, y la patata se asa en el horno con piel y todo por largo tiempo, así que es mejor cocinarlas primero en el micro-ondas y después asarlas en el horno por 20 minutos aprox. todos los tiempos varían según el tamaño de las patatas.

Mi relleno favorito es mantequilla, queso y pimienta negra! acompañada de ensalada o ensalada de col.... riquísimas!!!

Tengo dos lugares favoritos a los que me gusta ir a tomar "jacket potatoes" uno es en Stevenage en el Oval café y otro en Peterborough, en la Spud caravan.

Si vienes a UK, te recomiendo pobrar una "spud", es algo que pertenece a la cultura inglesa ;)
