New-work-space

Yesterday, I decided to make a change into my work space and clear out some old things and make a new open space with my new table.

A little book I am reading at the moment, also helped: "Unleasing your creativity - breaking new ground... without breaking the bank" by Janice Armstrong.

I am feeling much better and now, with my new-looking-good-space, I can draw better and have my pencils handy. I have also a new chair, which is also very important.
Changes are sometimes hard to take it, however, once you do it, what a pleasure difference!

In honor to my aunty Cecilia

Ten days ago, my aunty Cecilia passed away and today I took my pencil and sketch book and "steal" a moment and a view from my neighbor´s garden to honor her, because with her Art she teach us to observe and to see through the beauty. This is for you, tia Ceci x

1000livesin100words

Some days ago I received a "new post" on a newsletter which I am registered with through LinkedIn page and reading it through it captivated my interest, the post was called 1000 Lives In 100 Words.
..........................................................................................
What the project is about?
> First, the person in charge meet 1000 people of different shapes, sizes, nationalities and career paths. Then she asks them to write 100 words about their life and supply a photo of themselves.
So she publish it for you on this website: http://1000livesin100words.com/

‘what’s the point?’
1000 Lives In 100 Words is here to remind us that our lives are important. It’s here to remind us that it’s not the years in your life; it’s the life in your years. Because we’ll all end up as 100 words someday. So let’s make each one count.

And she was happy too, so here it is my contribution to 1000livesin100words project:

what a fantastic idea a CarBoot is!!

This was recently at Hitchin Sunday market :)
A vintage bag for 1pound, teapot 3pounds,
scarf and earrings for 50pence each
There is one thing in UK that always have attracted me and this is a CarBoot market. My first one was in 2008 in Norwich - which was a real one in the middle of nowhere, i an open field, summer time, sunshine, and lots of carboots open to sell what people have in their houses that is not anymore in use and they want to get rid of it... what a fantastic idea a carboot is!!

Since then I tried to find carboots in any place I visit, even nearby home, there are a couple every Sunday Morning :) Before I used to go more often, now, I prefer more randomly which it best suits me, however, you can become a carboot-addict, hahaha

There are associations and sites such as this one:  http://carboot.com/ which help people to locate and sell the things out. Normally (if you want to sell) you have to pay a little fee, as for example 5-8 pounds to reserve your place in the market (or field, if it is in the countryside), however, there are still places you can sell your stuff for free.

Some places have really good stuff, like old furniture, crockery, books, vintage clothes, jewelery, anything...however, you need time to check all the (junky) boxes and tables. In addition, there are also some stalls or caravan selling some food too.

Great!! you are not going to become rich of selling you stuff for little money, but, hey! something is more than nothing! and still, it is a pleasant adventure, even with kids or friends, to spend a Sunday morning outdoors ;) which I highly recommend !

IoM 2011 - TT week

Last week we come back from the Isle of Man where we spent our summer holidays. we went specially for the Tourist Trophy Bike races (known as TT) and which is hold every year in the first week of June, and this year was very special because it was the Mountain circuit centenary. This has been an exciting adventure for me because even if I do like motorbikes I don´t ride them (YET!).

I was expecting to find it more "men focused" however, surprisingly for me, this motorbike festival is open to the public in many ways and there are people from everywhere and any age! Riders and mechanics staff are very kind to visitors, for autographs, talks and photos.
People from everywhere in the planet Earth goes there to enjoy and share the TT week excitement; we met people from Australia and Argentina, telling us the stories that they faced in order to get there in time for the festival.
We also paid for a day in the Grand Stand where we watch the races from Start / Finish and pits. Very interesting and so open and close to the public I could not believe it.

The TT is also very well organized and there are many people involved, even though more than 500 "Marshalls" (assistants with orange jackets) who are volunteers (some with First Aids courses) who love the TT and want to be part of it.

We travel to Liverpool by train/motorbike and from Liverpool to Douglas in the ferry (Steam-packet company http://www.steam-packet.com/) which are very reliable and convenience. Booking in advance, is advisable because it takes really busy.

Apart from the TT races, the Isle of Man offer also a diversity of activities and places to visit as there are some Celtic locations and Glens (valleys) which are really a Must!
Some things to bear in mind before you travel there are:
- the weather is very very changeable, so the "onion law=layers" is something to take in account.
- the Manx money is different to the Sterling Pound money
- it can be expensive as it is a "fiscal paradise"
- pack your camera because there are lots to photo

Now I have more than 1,300 photos to check out and make a selection. Crazy of me! LOL

Jajaja...

Delicious_Chicken_Ramen_Soup

This is one of my favorite soups ever! The recipe is from The Wagamama Cookbook which I got it for my last birthday from my lovely partner. I discovered WAGAMAMA restaurants in my first stage of living in London in 2001 and was my cousin Yolanda to introduce me to this new eating experience which i will never forget!

I DO LOVE Wagamama and now, I can cook the recipes at home! isn´t so niceee?

This is my first recipe from the book and more to come... I wanted to start from something I am great fan and here it is :)

CHICKEN RAMEN SOUP
Chargrilled chicken and noodle soup with pak choi and bamboo
Combine noodles, hot stock, fresh vegetables and lightly grilled chicken and you have a complete meal in a bowl. Fast food really doesn´t get better than this.

2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
vegetable oil
salt and white pepper (although I used black pepper)
250g (9oz) ramen noodles
1 litre (1 3/4 pints) chicken or vegetable stock (I used chicken stock*)
2 pak choi, trimmed and roughly chopped (or 2 handfuls of baby spinach leaves)
12 pieces menma (canned bamboo shoots), drained
4 spring onions, trimmed and finely sliced

chicken stock* (when you want something to eat now!)
2 good-quality chicken stock cubes - 1 leek, finely chopped - 1 carrot, roughly chopped - 2.5cm (1in) piece of fresh ginger root, roughly chopped - 1 litre (1 3/4 pints) water
Combine all the solid ingredients in a pan, cover with the water, bring to the boil, strain and proceed.

1. Preheat the grill or griddle pan. Lightly oil and season the chicken breasts and grill for 4 minutes on each side, or until cooked through. Allow to rest for 5 minutes, slice on the diagonal and set aside.
2. Cook the noodles in a large pan of boiling water for 2-3 minutes until just tender. Drain, refresh under cold running water and divide between 2 bowls.
3. Heat the chicken or vegetable stock until boiling. Put the pak choi on top of the noodles and ladle in the stock. Top with sliced chicken, menma and spring onions.

sal y pimienta blanca (aunque yo he usado pimienta negra)
250g (9oz) ramen noodles

BON APETIT!!!

Grow_your_own

Following yesterday post I wanted to include this one which is kind of the real practice of "Growing your own food" in allotments of in your garden. I doesn´t matter if the space is small or big, or if you have only a terrace, the real purpose is to believe, to try and to make it happen.

Some people are known as being "green hands" which means you are good in growing plants. However, I think all people have this innate ability. What happens is that in my opinion nowadays most people spent great time in front of computers, TV, video consoles, mobile phones, etc... gadgets that alienate us from the real nature and our true roots.

If any one would be available to sew some seeds and to care about that seeds until they open and they become a new being, to nurture, to help and to learn from this developing, I think this world would be a better place. Without any doubt!

I am attracted to nature since I born and in my possibilities I prefer to spend some money and time within and grow my own food. This is always more rewarding, not only economically, but in taste, in feelings and within my inner self.

You should give it a try! There are plenty of resources out there, however, if you really believe, it will happen!!
