HURRAY!! We GOT an AlloTment !! :-)

Last weekend has been fabulous not only because the magical sunshine weather but also because we got a letter from the council announcing that there is an Allotment  available for us :-) A year ago we did join the waiting list and now our wish it is becoming true.... WE are really excited and delighted!

And yesterday we went along with the agent site which show us around between three plots and we agree in the same one: Number 27A (Lucky number for me). Great position, away from the main path and surrounded by other nice folks. Lots to do, but still on good timing for get rid of weeds and prepare the soil, distribute the planting beds and build the shed on site.

We love allotments as they are open spaces, a place where to plant your-own-veg, go back to our roots, free exercise and probably more rewarding...

We took some measurements and also some photos... and here we are reading lots and dreaming about. So excited that hardly we could sleep these days, hehehe

 

Este finde pasado ha sido fabuloso, no sólo porque ha hecho un sol y un tiempo muy especial sino también porque el viernes recibimos una carta del ayuntamiento anunciándonos que teníamos un huerto disponible esperándonos :-) El año pasado por estas fechas nos inscribimos en la lista de espera y al final nuestro deseo se ha hecho realidad!... Estamos tan ilusionados !!

Así que ayer quedamos con el gerente del grupo para que nos enseñara, porque había tres áreas/tierras diferentes y ambos coincidimos en la misma: el número 27A (Uno de mis números favoritos). Fantástica localización, lejos del paso principal y recogido alrededor de otros amigos que hemos ido haciendo durante este año de espera ;-)

Hay mucho que hacer, quitar yerbajos, preparar la tierra, distribuir las zonas y construir la caseta.

Nos encanta la idea de tener un huertecito al aire libre, dónde plantar nuestras propias verduras, estar en contacto con la naturaleza, y ejercicio gratis, qué gran recompensa...


Tomamos medidas e hice algunas fotos... y ahora estamos leyendo unos libros que compramos y soñando despiertos...tanto, que apenas hemos podido dormir estos últimos días jejeje

Knitting on process

With the change of time last weekend we entered almost into the new season of Winter... Days are shorter and colder, changing moods and thinking in getting the warmer clothes out again.

I do like Winter because I born in January and because I love snow... but apart of feeling like a roasted onion with layers of clothes over me, I much prefer the Autumn or the Spring!

Anyway, Winter invites us to purchase a nice wool jumper or Knit-it-your-self. Because here in England people love Art & Crafts and they organize many fairs along the year.

So, here I am with my next knitting project on process..............

PS. It is not a jumper ;-) what do you guess?

Con el cambio de hora la semana pasada casi hemos entrado en el Invierno... Los días son más cortos y hace más fresquito, nuestro humor varía más y hay que pensar en sacar la ropa más abrigada.

Me gusta el Invierno, porque nací en Enero y porque adoro la Nieve... pero aparte de sentirme como una cebolla asada con mil capas sobre mí, prefiero el Otoño o la Primavera!

En fin,  que el Invierno nos invita a comprar un abrigado jersey de lana o tejerlo-uno-mismo. Porque aquí en Inglaterra la gente es muy maña a hacer manualidades, e incluso organizan ferias artesanales a lo largo del año. Así que aquí estoy yo con mi nuevo projecto de punto..........

PD. Que no es un jersey ;-) Lo adivinas?

Some weeks ago I purchase my colour in order to support the campaign "OWN A COLOUR, SAFE A CHILD´S LIFE" which I think it is a really good project to help children in the world.

Hace unas semanas colaboré en un bonito proyecto-campaña "OWN A COLOUR, SAFE A CHILD´S LIFE" (Compra un color, salva una vida de un niño) el cual creo que es una muy bonita idea para ayudar a los niños de este mundo.

A little stroll around Brick_Lane

Yesterday I have the opportunity to stroll around Brick Lane area and take some photos of some "arty on streets"...although Brick Lane has dramatically change in the last decade since I was there some years ago. Still trendy with lots of Vintage shops here and there, galleries and nice bars to stop by, it has also developed into the "Indi mecca of restaurants" one on side to another and so on...which for me loose all the attractiveness of the Indian Cuisine. I have been very well trained in Indian food and now, I could no go far from my locals which are one of the best in all Hertfordshite.

Coming back to Brick Lane, in Wikipedia I found some info you might be interested: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brick_Lane especially the name of The TRUMAN Brewery. Brewing came to Brick Lane before 1680, with water drawn from deep wells. One brewer was Joseph Truman, first recorded in 1683. His family, particularly Benjamin Truman, went on to establish the sizable Black Eagle Brewery on Brick Lane.

 

 There is also The Brick Lane market: http://www.visitbricklane.org/#/brick-lane-market/4537676886 which yesterday hold a flea market on American Apparel....which looong queues.

Brick Lane is on the East part of London and nearby there is also the famous Old Spitafields Market http://www.spitalfields.co.uk/ which merit at least one visit, if you never went there. However, this market also developed into something more modern and commercial as it used to be a decade ago...

Ayer me fui a Brick Lane a darme un paseo por sus calles e hice algunas fotos de "su arte callejero"... sin embargo, Brick Lane   ha cambiado mucho en la última década y desde que estuve la última vez hace unos años ya. Todavía se puede apreciar que es un barrio estiloso y lleno de tiendas Vintage, galeria y bares dónde parar y comer algo rico, aunque también se le considera como la mecca de la cocina India, con restaurantes uno al lado del otro llenando calles y calles, lo cual pierde todo el atractivo para mi... porque estoy bien acostumbrada a la cocina india ya que dónde vivo está el mejor restaurante Indio en todo Hertfordshite.

Volviendo a Brick Lane, en Wikipedia encontré algo de su historia (sorry en inglés): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brick_Lane especialmente sobre The TRUMAN Brewery. la elaboración de la cerveza llegó a Brick Lane antes de 1680. Uno de los fabricantes más famosos fue Joseph Truman, en 1683. su familia, en especial Benjamin Truman, creó la fábrica de cerveza llamada y famosa, Black Eagle Brewery en la zona.

BAKEWELL_tart

As we watched the "Celebrity MasterChef"cooking program on telly the other week, where one of the chefs was on challenge to cook a Bakewell tart, not successfully... then Mark had the idea to bring it to home in order to try it for real ;-)

OMG...what a tart!

It is quite rich and delicious.... to have it with tea, coffee or just alone :-) it is really yammiii! with delicious plum and raspberry jam filling....

El otro dia estábamos viendo en la tele un programa de cocina llamado "Celebrity MasterChef", dónde uno de los cocineros tenía que preparar una tarta "Bakewell", pero desafortunadamente no fue capaz... Entonces Mark decidió comprarla y probarla ;-)

MADRE MIA...qué tarta!

Está deliciosa... perfecta para el te, el café o sola :-) Está riquísima!! Está hecha de bizcocho y rellena de mermelada de ciruela y frambuesa.....
