It is time of Matrioskas Again

My mum recently gave me a new set of Matrioskas as a present when she traveled Russia last Summer. The Matrioskas are the "Russian Traditional dolls created in 1890" and the sets have to be an odd number of pieces=dolls, because it is rare to have more than 20 pieces in one full set!

I have two sets now: one of five dolls and the new one of seven pieces :-) I love them, these bright colors and details.

Ready to become on trend again! I am full inspired to create new Matrioska patterns :-)

Mi madre que estuvo recientemente en Rusia, me ha obsequiado con un nuevo juego de Matrioskas. Las Matrioskas son esas "Muñequitas rusas tradicionales creadas en 1890" http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matrioska y que vienen en juegos de piezas los cuales han de ser de número impar. Siempre más de 1 y menos de 20! 

Ahora tengo dos juegos: Uno de cinco piezas y el nuevo de siete :-) Me encantan, con esos colores brillantes y llenos de bonitos detalles.

Empiezan a ponerse de moda otra vez! Así que me siento inspirada para crear nuevos estampados con ellas :-)

The Blue Indigo Hat

Last October 8th 2011, I was in Valencia for my cousin wedding. It was a very special day and the atmosphere was just perfect. Sonia and Alex choose a beautiful landscape to celebrate and share their big special day. As a novelty, I choose to were a broad-brimmed hat myself which I found some months ago in one of my favorite "Charity shops" in town for only 3 pounds. At the time, I bought it, one gentleman asked me if I was preparing to go to Royal Ascot: http://www.ascot.co.uk/?page=Royal_Ascot&altcss=true as he said I look stunning! what a great compliment he paid me!! :-)

The Blue-Indigo hat it is beautiful itself but I needed a dress for it... and it took me until the last minute to find the perfect match for it. It was when I found the feather earrings in one shop and I realized of the powerful color combination: INDIGO+TEAL ;-) I feel so happy!

The day of the wedding I woke up early enough to be hair-dressed and make up, dress and voilà the picture.... I felt so gorgeus ;-)

Como novedad, decidí ponerme una bonita pamela la cual encontré unos meses atrás en una de mi tiendas de segunda mano favoritas y sólo por 3 libras. En aquel momento, un caballero se acercó a mi y me dijo que estaba guapisima y me preguntó si me estaba preparando para asistir al Royal Ascot: http://www.ascot.co.uk/?page=Royal_Ascot&altcss=true (qué gran halago!:-)

La pamela azul es preciosa ella misma, pero necesitaba un vestido... y no fue hasta el último minuto que encontré la pareja perfecta. En una tienda encontré unos bonitos pendientes con una pluma azul y otra verde, entonces me di cuenta de la fuerte combinación de colores: INDIGO+TEAL ;-) Qué gran idea!

El dia de la boda, me levanté pronto, me peinaron, maquillaron, me vestí y aquí está la foto que lo dice todo! Me sentí super guapa!!

Autumnal_Glimpses @ Westonbirt

Wood signs around the park

On 1st of October, we went to Westonbirt, the National Arboretum park, to walk and enjoy the Autumnal glimpses on the different areas because the weather was just perfect. Westonbirt belongs to Gloucestershire county and it is only 3 miles away from the traditional Cotswold town of Tetbury.

The Forestry Commission within the Government manages the park. The Arboretum has around 16,000 trees with 3,000 different specimens that come from Britain, Japan, China, North America, Chile and other countries.

It is very popular and have a lot of visitors during the year to admire the beauty of the different species during the seasons. It is also a place of activities and children love to play around and climb some of the trees.

Autumn colors

I always love the colors of Autumn and for us this day was spectacular. Our cameras took hundred of photos and the walks sometimes were so magical.

El primero de Octubre, fuimos a Westonbirt, un parque nacional, para disfrutar los colores del Otoño en las diferentes zonas y el tiempo acompañaba, era perfecto. Westonbirt pertenece a Gloucester y está a sólo 3 millas de un pueblecito en los famosos Costwold llamado Tetbury.

El parque está gestionado por la Comisión Forestal y el Gobierno. Tiene alrededor de 16,000 árboles con 3,000 especies diferentes que vienen de Inglaterra, Japón, China, Norte América, Chile y otros países.

Es un parque muy popular y tiene muchisimas visitas durante todo el año, para admirar la belleza de las distintas especies en cada estación. Es también un lugar para distintas actividades y los niños adoran jugar y trepar por los árboles.

A mi siempre me han gustado los colores del Otoño y este dia fue para nosotros espectacular. Nuestras cámaras de fotos no pararon ni un sólo minuto. Algunos de los lugares muy especiales y mágicos.

It been said that this week was going to be the "Indian Summer" and big snows next week.... however, this morning is still poor and not sunshine at all ... Never mind!I am getting used to.

Había oido que esta semana iba a hacer un tiempo espectacular, el llamado "Indian Summer" y la semana que viene, mucha nieve !.... sin embargo, esta mañana amaneció con niebla y sin sol!! Creo que me estoy acostumbrando.

Aún así, me he vestido trendy y me voy a Londres con mi amiga Juby. I found an ART Studio near home :-)

On my way - near home

Last Friday, reading the local paper, I found an interesting advert "Exhibition of Contemporary Artwork at Fairlands Valley Farmhouse" which is a nice walk from our home. It has been weird because recently I dream of painting again and heard a voice telling me: "paint, paint, paint". I was so happy in my dream, so maybe this was a "sign" ;-)

So I took my camera and walk towards the Farmhouse. On my walk I found inspiring colors and patterns to work with and by entering the house, it feel like entering another era and time, very special. Every artist was open to talk and I had rewarding talks and all of them, encourage me to join the Studios, which I think (i strong feel) i should do.

Tina Reid, a Visual Artist http://www.tinareid.moonfruit.com/#, was the first approaching and very enthusiastic woman. Interesting paintings & drawings which captivate me.

Suzy Drake, Artist & Tutor http://www.suzydrake.com/, attracted me by her floral and African paintings, which are full of color and texture. 

Marlene Tanti, Ceramic Artist http://www.marlenetanticeramics.com/gallery.html, has an extraordinary selection of pieces. Great work.

And Patrick Joyce, a Ceramic Artist http://www.patrickjoyce.co.uk/, who invite me to join him sometime to "give-it-a-try" in their Pottery & Ceramics Studio. He was very kind, and show me around. Lovely pieces and Japanese inspired vases.

Dónde me senté a meditar...

 El pasado Viernes, leyendo el periódico local, encontré un anuncio interesante "Muestra de Arte Contemporáneo en Fairlands Valley Farmhouse" Lo cual es un bonito paseo desde casa. Es extraño, porque recientemente soñé que pintaba y una vocecita me decía: "pinta, pinta, pinta". Se me veía tan feliz en mi sueño, que quizás ésto sea una "señal" ;-)

Así que cogí mi cámara de fotos y me fui paseando hacia allí. Durante mi paseo encontré colores que me inspiran de nuevo a crear, incluso cuando entré en la casa, me sentí como si entrara en otra época. 

Hablé con casi todos los  artistas, compartiendo opiniones y experiencias y todos me animaron a unirme al Studio, lo que siento muy fuerte y creo que debería hacerlo.

Ha sido una experiencia maravillosa!

It is nothing better than a Deck Chair

El pasado domingo disfrutaba de la puesta de sol mientras leía las páginas de un nuevo libro "La Geometría de la Pasta" que me ha regalado mi novio recientemente. Estaba sentada en nuestra bonita deck chair (silla de playa) aunque aquí la gente las utiliza también en los parques, a mi me encanta! porque tiene diferentes posiciones y es muy fácil de transportar ;-)

In memory of my grandfather

and asked if I was related to the Photographer. I was surprised and happy to find another of the beautiful photos of my grandfather remembered and published again.
