There is one thing in UK that always have attracted me and this is a CarBoot market. My first one was in 2008 in Norwich - which was a real one in the middle of nowhere, i an open field, summer time, sunshine, and lots of carboots open to sell what people have in their houses that is not anymore in use and they want to get rid of it... what a fantastic idea a carboot is!!
Since then I tried to find carboots in any place I visit, even nearby home, there are a couple every Sunday Morning :) Before I used to go more often, now, I prefer more randomly which it best suits me, however, you can become a carboot-addict, hahaha
There are associations and sites such as this one: http://carboot.com/ which help people to locate and sell the things out. Normally (if you want to sell) you have to pay a little fee, as for example 5-8 pounds to reserve your place in the market (or field, if it is in the countryside), however, there are still places you can sell your stuff for free.
Some places have really good stuff, like old furniture, crockery, books, vintage clothes, jewelery, anything...however, you need time to check all the (junky) boxes and tables. In addition, there are also some stalls or caravan selling some food too.
Great!! you are not going to become rich of selling you stuff for little money, but, hey! something is more than nothing! and still, it is a pleasant adventure, even with kids or friends, to spend a Sunday morning outdoors ;) which I highly recommend !
Hay una cosa en UK que siempre me ha cautivado y son los "Carboot markets" (Carboot => maletero). El primero al que fui fue en 2008 en Norwich - el cual estaba en el medio de la nada, en el campo, verano soleado, y con coches distribuidos aqui y allá, vendiendo todos áquello que la gente tiene en sus casas y que no usa nunca más y quiere quitárselo de encima... Qué gran idea es este mercadillo!!
Desde entonces en cada lugar que visito, busco por un "carboot market", incluso cerca de casa tengo un par de ellos a los que solía ir cada Domingo por la mañana :) Aunque ahora prefiero ir de vez en cuando, porque puedes convertirte en una adicta a estos mercadillos...hahaha
Existen asociaciones y websites como esta: http://carboot.com/ las cuales ayudan a la gente a localizar los mercadillos pero también a vender tus cosas. Normalmente si quieres vender, tienes que pagar una pequeña cuota de 5-8 libras para reservar tu plaza en el mercado (o en el campo), sin embargo, todavía existen algunos sitios en los que no pagas nada.
Algunos mercadillos tienen cosas realmente interesantes, como muebles antiguos, vajillas, libros, ropa, accesorios, cualquier cosa... y a veces, necesitas mucho tiempo para mirar todas las cajas y mesas llenas de cosas para encontrar algo que atraiga tu atención. También hay caravanas donde sirven comida, sandwiches, comida china.
Genial!! No te vas a hacer rico si vendes algunas de tus cosas por un poco de dinero, ya que se venden por muy poco dinero y a veces hasta se regatea! pero algo es mejor que nada ;) y sigue siendo una buena manera de pasar el domingo al aire libre, con niños o amigos, os lo recomiendo!!
